In Over My Head

I love the idea of posting a project each week; however, I am just constantly running behind. How do some of these women manage home, kids, sewing and blogs? Between work and the kids I am still finding it hard to find time for sewing. It's definitely something I want to work more of into my life, but I don't want to fill up each week with hurried projects I'm not particularly fond of...so be patient. The posts will be fewer in between, but I hope to show some great projects soon.

Happy sewing....

Creative Excursion #5

I have been running so far behind on my projects. With that in mind, I spent yesterday morning catching up on the last three projects. Yeah! I'm caught up!

Week #5 Applique Heart

Week #3 Fur Collar

Week #4 Fur Muff

At that point in the day, I had no idea what project I wanted to work on next. So I took a break, went to eat a taco, and spend on hour or so at the bookstore. I wanted to use the wireless Internet to play with my new ipad. OMG, it's so cool! The whole point of the excursion is to make time for yourself.

Week 6 Inspiration

I spent most of yesterday not sure what project I would work on next. I have several magazine clippings of fringed purses. I spent one of my excursions to the mall looking at them. Some were very expensive, while the affordable one was just not quite right.

Week 5 Inspiration

My inspiration for Week#5 are these heart sweaters that are showing up everywhere. They look cute for Valentine's Day.

Project 5

This project was inspired by the photos I showed previously. Additionally, with a trip to the mall recently I noticed sweatshirts painted with hearts and cut up. They were cute, but decidedly a bit too young for me.

I searched for a white shirt to use for this project, but didn't find on to my liking. I decided to go for black instead. I debated about using iron-on crystals, but was not sure to how well they hold up with washing. I found this sparkly sheer black fabric and decided an applique was the way to go. Unfortunately, the picture does not show up as well as I would like.

The total project cost was a little over twenty dollars. The fabric for the applique was normally three dollars a yard. The store has a half yard minimum, but I took the whole piece that was already cut (1and 1/2 yards) for three dollars. There is plenty of fabric for another project.

Project4

I referred to a tutorial in my inspiration for this project. They said to use a magazine for the size(pattern). This seemed to narrow in width, so I went a little wider;however, I still think I should have added more width. I cut the leopard fur about an inch shorter and the plush fur about thee inched longer, so that it would wrap around to the outside.
